A home maintenance app that keeps the details together

Most home maintenance information is scattered — a filter size in a photo, a receipt in email, a plumber's number in a text thread. Around The House keeps the schedule, the history, and the paperwork in one place, on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

What the app is for

Owning a home means holding a lot of small facts: when the water heater was installed, which filter the furnace takes, who fixed the dishwasher last time and what they charged. None of it is complicated. It is just easy to lose, and it always seems to be needed at the worst moment.

Around The House gives every appliance, system, and fixture in the house its own record — with photos, dates, documents, and a running service history. Once something is in the app, the answer is in one place instead of five.

  • When did I last service this?Maintenance history, listed by date on the item.
  • When was it installed?Purchase and installation dates saved with the item.
  • Who repaired it?The service provider is recorded on each maintenance entry.
  • What did it cost?Cost is saved per entry and totalled in reports.
  • Where is the manual?Manuals, receipts, and warranties live in the Binder.
  • What is due next?Recurring reminders appear on the Schedule and on Today.

Start from what needs attention

The Today view opens on the things that are actually due: how much is overdue, what is coming up, and which items need a look. Below that, your home is broken into areas — Kitchen, Exterior, Garage/Yard, Safety, Utility, HVAC, Laundry, Bathroom — so you can browse the way you actually think about the house.

It is a starting point rather than a dashboard. Most days there is nothing to do, and the app says so.

One record per thing

Each item holds everything you know about it in one scrollable record: cover photo and additional photos, model and serial numbers, filter sizes, purchase and installation dates, notes, attached documents, its maintenance history, and any reminders set against it.

When the furnace acts up, you open the furnace — not a folder, a search, and three apps.

What you can keep track of

Around The House is not limited to appliances. People use it for HVAC systems, water heaters, roofs, decks, landscaping, and other improvements, along with tools, electronics, furniture, and other belongings worth recording.

Maintenance and repairs

Recurring maintenance, upcoming and overdue work, completed maintenance history, the type of work done (repair, replacement, cleaning, preventive maintenance), the service provider, notes, and cost.

Documents and details

Manuals, receipts, warranties, and other files, saved against the item they belong to. Model and serial numbers, filter sizes, purchase and installation dates, and notes about how something is set up.

Reports

A home maintenance report pulls the records together into completed and overdue counts, spending over time, a watchlist of items needing attention, and the service providers in your history. There is also a home handoff report if you ever sell or hand the house over.

Private, and no account to create

There is no Around The House account and no web dashboard. Your records stay on your Apple devices and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your own private iCloud — the same account your photos use. Purchases are handled by the App Store.

Around The House costs $0.99 a month, or $14.99 once for a lifetime unlock at the introductory price available through October 31. The lifetime price increases to $24.99 on November 1, 2026.

Start with one appliance.

Add the furnace, the water heater, or whatever broke most recently. The rest of the house can follow at your own pace.
